B Jayachandran - Chairman Emeritus
Shri. B. Jayachandran, son of Shri. Balasundaram founder of Textool Company is a pioneering automotive engineer with exceptional mechanical instinct, his engineering journey began in his teens with engine experimentation and early design innovation.
Trained in Germany and Switzerland in machine tools and industrial engineering, he later worked in design and development at Textool as partner in the managing agency company before founding Jaya Automotives, a fully integrated engine manufacturing facility, which under one roof can produce engines from drawing board to fully tested final product.
In 1973, he developed India’s first lightweight automotive diesel engine known as JAYA diesel engines, widely used for repowering Ambassador & Premier Padmini cars. Between 1973 and 1993, over 15,000 engines were produced, many certified by ARAI for low emissions.
The close association with ARAI has brought Mahindra & Mahindra to improve M&M vehicles by incorporating new advanced methods with indigenous R&D. In 2002, Jayem Joined with TATA Motors and developed new engines & transmissions, becoming integral part of Tata’s R&D.
As Chairman Emeritus, he continues to guide Jayem’s leadership with decades of engineering insight.

J Anand - Managing Director
A technologist, entrepreneur and former professional racing driver, he leads Jayem’s evolution as an automotive R&D, EV powertrain and manufacturing company.
With roots in a three-generation engineering legacy, his work at Jayem spans vehicle design, powertrain engineering, electric mobility systems and battery pack manufacturing. Under his leadership, Jayem has served as an extended engineering arm to multiple Indian and global OEMs.
He played a key role in positioning Jayem among India’s early electric vehicle developers and in building system-level capability—linking design, testing, pilot manufacturing and production readiness.
Motorsport experience strongly shapes Jayem’s engineering culture, bringing performance thinking, rapid iteration and data-driven development into mainstream product engineering.
Devika Anand - Director
Taking the vision of Jayem Auto forward, Ms. Devika Anand plays a key role in integrating the general administration of all Jayem business units, helping align operations with the company’s growth vision. She focuses on building robust processes and empowering teams across functions, ensuring cohesive coordination between Jayem’s different business verticals.
A Computer Science graduate from PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, Ms. Devika brings a technology-oriented and people-focused approach to Jayem’s leadership. Her experience in managing complex operations and nurturing high-performance teams strengthens Jayem’s capabilities in both operational excellence and innovation.
Vikas T - COO
Vikas joined Jayem Automotives management team in 2023 as the Chief Operating Officer to help support and drive new business growth areas. He has 23 years of experience spanning technology, strategy & operations consulting and business leadership roles, across multiple geographic locations and cross-functional teams. He brings with him, strong experience in Strategy development & deployment, business management, financial acumen, organization communication and long-term talent development.
Over the 23 years he has worked with marquee MNC’s in building resilient organizational systems and processes for sustained business outcomes. He has a B.E Hons. degree in Electrical and Electronics engineering from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani and an MBA in Marketing and Finance from Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad.
He has worked with Oracle, Deloitte Consulting and Rexnord before joining the Jayem team.
